All the Chinese officers and men who will participate in the “Peace Mission 2012” joint anti-terrorism military exercise to be held by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) safely arrived at the exercise area of the “Chorukh-Dayron” shooting range in Khujand city of Tajikistan on the afternoon of June 5, 2012.

Five SCO member states including Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan dispatched a total of more than two thousand people for this joint military exercise. The Chinese side sent out 369 people.

The Chinese army aviation troop unit took off from the Kashi Airport of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on June 5 and arrived at the exercise area by way of Kyrgyzstan on the same day. The ground troops participating in the joint military exercise left Atushi of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on June 3 and arrived at the exercise area on June 5 via Kyrgyzstan by motorized maneuver.

This joint military exercise is a routine multilateral anti-terrorism military exercise among the armed forces of the SCO member states. It is of far-reaching significance in jointly improving the level of training and cooperation among the armed forces of the SCO member states, effectively deterring the three forces (terrorism, separatism and extremism) and maintaining regional peace and stability.
